Compatibility Tests and Crawfish Boils

Hi all... Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Between the new job, planning the wedding, illness in the family and having the occasional fun I have neglected the blog. I promise to try and catch up more often. Lots has been going on.;) Joe and I took our pre-marriage compatibility test and I have to admit it was a lot of fun. The two of us laughed and misbehaved like we were in grade school. Father sat us down in the cafeteria (at the same table) while he went to St. Jude.(Big mistake) We were both amused and a little mortified by some of the questions and had a great time teasing each otherSome of my favorites include, but are not limited to: "Are you afraid of your future spouse?", "Are you concerned about certain sex acts that your spouse has asked you to perform in bed?", "Are you having sex with someone other than your future spouse?"

While these are all valid questions, we couldn't believe that anyone would consider getting married if they answered yes to any of these. We should get our test results any day and I will let you know if the church deems us fit to marry (just kidding). The purpose of the test is to approach subjects that you have not talked about as a couple. It is not that you have to agree on everything - no couple will ever do that. You do want to talk with each other about important issues and at least know the others stance or feelings on the matter. If you want five kids and your future spouse is adamant about not having any children it is good to know before the wedding so a discussion and a compromise can take place. It just takes a lot of pressure off a newly married couple. It was good for both of us.

We still have not settled on a date but October is looking good- I guess that is a little step forward. We are still waiting for my annulment to be granted and I just sent the request form off for the marriage counseling class which has to be completed before the big day. We are still thinking about getting married civilly and having a ceremony after we complete everything so we can go ahead and move in together and not be rushed. It is important to us to be married before we live together. We want to be a good example for my eleven year old daughter. So many decisions and so little time.

In the meantime we have been enjoying crawfish boils, music on Beale Street and dinners with friends. We have been trying new recipes, canning vegetables and growing peppers from seeds. We have been painting, organizing and downsizing in preparation for the big move. We have been enjoying each other and I hope all of you are doing the same. No matter how hectic our lives get we must remember to enjoy our loved ones as much as possible because we never know what day will be our last. You will even miss the things that annoyed you the most - so enjoy those too;)

I would like to give a huge congratulations and shout out to my daughter, Heart, whose art work is on display starting tomorrow at the Brooks Museum. I am so very proud.

Talk soon, Ang.
